Conference format
The major aim of the conference is to promote dialogue and exchange between 'experts', researchers, developers, practitioners and learners. We are particularly keen that learners and junior researchers are given an opportunity to discuss and exchange their ideas. We aim that the content of the sessions is driven and created by the participants rather than the traditional 'presentation and five minutes questions' format with content determined in advance by a single organiser, or a small group of organisers.
How will the format work?
The conference will start with a short scoping session. The main space will be for participants. How the conference works is up to you!
To make the most out of the space available for the conference, the room will be divided into the following six areas, that can be dynamically allocated to one of the conference themes and to one of the following approaches:
- Round table area (1) - for open discussion, meetings, project presentations, requests for comments and so on. This area is a useful space for those in the community that are already progressing with ideas and projects and research to spend face-2-face time discussing and formulating ways forward. This is your space. Feel free to use it as you wish.
- Discourse space (2-5) - we outline here four different kinds of activities that you might like to try:
- The Ten Minute Slot - Ten minute presentations of work and ideas in progress, to be followed by ten minute discussion.
- Critical Enquiry - Present an idea for a project, a software tool etc. and be prepared for a critique from our expert panel (made up of other participants).
- Ask an Expert - Request that someone else introduces on a topic you wish to learn something about.
- Discussion Circle - Introduce a discussion in a maximum of three minutes, each participant gets two minutes to contribute.
- ... anything else you would like to do
- Poster time (6) - one area will be available for posters with another ten minute slot for you to explain your poster.
We will leave free spaces for ideas to be presented. If you have ideas already, it would be great if you could send us a short note suggesting the thing you would like to do or present at the conference. We will then add it to the conference web space to be launched shortly as part of the main Bazaar website [1].
The conference is free. Coffee and lunch will be provided for all participants. If you are interested in attending, please register in advance by sending an e-mail to Raymond Elferink - raymond@raycom.com

To get to the University Library at the University Campus De Uithof from the train station
City bus services from/to Utrecht Central Station: Bus 11 and 12(s). These buses leave every 3 to 5 minutes. The bus journey will take about 15 to 20 minutes. It is a two-zone trip. You will have to stamp three strips on the "strippenkaart" you can buy at the station. You can also buy the ‘strips’ from the bus conductor in the bus. Get out at the busstop "Langeveldgebouw",this is directly in front of the University Library. You will find the Boothzaal on your left after climbing the main stairway to the central hall of the library.

The first two options are located directly in the city centre. There are building activities near the station, so at the moment there is no immediate direct busstop in front of the hotel Best Western Utrecht City Centre, ask the driver where to get out, or walk. The hotel is a 5 minutes walk from Utrecht central train station. Follow signs ‘Uitgang Centrum’ (exit centre). To get to the conference location: walk towards busstop ‘Neude’ and take bus 11 in direction of "de Uithof/WKZ". In front of the NH Centre Hotel Utrecht, there is a direct busstop to get to the university library at De Uithof (or to the central train station), busstop “Janskerkhof”. To De Uithof take bus 11 in direction of "de Uithof/WKZ".
Hotel Ouwi and Hotel Maliebaan are hotels in 19th century buildings, beautifully located a bit outside the city centre, very close by a busstop (“oorsprongpark”) from where you can go every 5 minutes to the centre (in 7 minutes). From this busstop you can take a direct bus towards the conference location, the University Library at the University Campus De Uithof (every 10 minutes): bus 11 in direction of "de Uithof/WKZ", exit at busstop “Langeveldgebouw”. Utrecht is beautiful for walking through; city centre is only 15 minutes walk.
Directly to hotels Ouwi and Maliebaan from central train station: Take bus 11 in direction of "de Uithof/WKZ" or bus 4 in direction of "burg. Fockema Andrealaan" and exit the bus at busstop "Oorsprongpark". This takes 9 minutes. Buses go every 10 minutes. Hotel Ouwi: cross the Biltstraat (where the bus rides) and take the sidestreet F.C. Donderstraat. At number 12 is Hotel Ouwi. Hotel Maliebaan: stay on the side where you exited the bus and walk in the sidestreet Mgr. Van de Weteringstraat, take the first left. This is the Maliestraat. The Hotel is at number 2.
Lunch and drinks
Lunch is provided for at the conference location, as well as drinks after the end of the conference.
Restaurants at the University Centre:
Directly across form the University Library is ‘the Basket’, where you can have dinner. Behind the Basket is the ‘Educatorium’ where you can find the large university canteen to have meals. The Educatorium building is also directly connected to the University Library by means of a footbridge at level 1.
In the city centre of Utrecht are many restaurants.
