Aims of the Show-me day

  • To examine how social software can be used to develop learning in communities of practice
  • To provide a introduction to the use of ELGG as a social software tool for developing communities and sharing learning materials

The Presenters

Graham Attwell is a researcher and director of the independent Welsh Research Institute, Pontydysgu. Amongst other interests, he has been researching the use of ICT for learning in Small and Medium Enterprises and the development of Personal Learning Environments (PLEs). Dave Tosh is a co-founder of ELGG and the Director of Curverider. Together with Ben, Dave has been researching learning environments, in particular e-Portfolios and personal learning spaces for the past three years.

Ben Werdmuller is the Technical Director on ELGG and a Director of Curverider. He has vast experience in devising and programming learning solutions for Education. Ben has played a key role in providing such services to Oxford University and the University of Edinburgh.

Wolfgang Greller is e-Learning Manager at the University of Klagenfurt.

Graham Attwell talked about the changing way young people are using technology for learning. He looked at the use of Web 2.0 and social software applications for social networking, communication and sharing. You can view his presentation here
