Writeboard is a simple server-based tool for online text creation. It requires only a standard web browser an online connection. All editing and text processing takes place in the web.
Purpose
Main purpose of Writeboard is easy and collaborative production of text from any computer with a web browser.
What it does
Writeboard allows to create simple online text documents and share and edit them with other users. Every document is a writeboard and has a unique URL. Each writeboard has a title and supports only basic formatting like bold and oblique text. Therefore it is sufficient for a text-based brain-storming or a wiki-like collection of ideas and arguments. But due to its restricted functions, Writeboard is no alternative to a web-based office suite like Zoho or Google Docs.
Like a wiki Writeboard offers a history function to display the latest changes of a document and a simple kind of verson control. Also comments are possible to add to a writeboard document. It is easy to invite others for sharing a writeboard by sending them a short invitation by e-mail.
How can it be used for creation of OERs
Due to its limited functionalities for text creation Writeboard is not a satisfying tool for OER creation. But it can be used for a first collaborative collection of ideas. Such a draft document can later be exported to html or txt format and re-used in a more sophisticated tool.

License support
Writeboard has no built-in support for licenses, or license requirements.
Standards / Compatibility
Export formats of Writeboard content are HTML and TXT format. No oher formats are supported.
HOW TO USE IT
- Visit http://writeboard.com
- Create a new writeboard by
- adding a title
- assign a password
- add your e-mail address and save!
A new writeboard with a unique URL will be created. The writeboard is only protected by the password. You can invite other users by telling them the URL and the password.
Once the writeboard is created you can add text and edit it online very easy.
Writeboard offers a history of the latest changes incl. dates of change and names of authors. And you can easily compare two versions.
